Hi, I am Nick Lloyd, Managing Director of Urbane Kitchens and the Urbane Building Company. My background is in building; I have run a successful building company in Bristol for over 25 years, which evolved into including an innovative kitchen design and retail studio a few years ago. I am proud of the way the showroom has developed over the years and our testimonials bear witness to our many satisfied customers.
We have a fantastic team here at Urbane Kitchens, which includes our creative and highly talented kitchen designer and planning consultant, Michelle and a dedicated team of highly skilled craft and tradesmen.
I have always been interested in sustainability, and we at Urbane are addressing these eco-issues with enthusiasm and diligence. We intend to be in the vanguard of sustainable building practices in Bristol and the surrounding area and are amassing a portfolio of natural and environmentally friendly building materials and practices that may interest many of our customers. Michelle Chinn – Designer and Planning Consultant
Hi I’m Michelle, Designer at Urbane Kitchens, I have been working as a designer for a number of years during which my role has encompassed, surveying, designing bespoke units, extensions and conversions and the creation of planning packages for local authority approval.
I started my career in design as an architect’s assistant developing plans, and after refurbishing my house and designing and fitting my own kitchen I felt that I would relish the opportunity to see a project through from planning to completion. I saw kitchen design as an area that would be more personal and Urbane really stood out for me as they had their own building company on site and were not just another design studio.
I was impressed by their flexibility to work within existing design styles or to create truly bespoke design solutions, along with a full end-to-end service.
Working at Urbane has given me the opportunity to become more intimate with my customers and to create design solutions that not only meet but also exceed client expectations. And the support of the Urbane Building team of experienced craftsmen and fitters ensures that the design works in reality right down to the most minute of details.
I work closely with Nick our MD to ensure that we deliver an efficient, effective and stylish interpretation of your vision. I use my personal experience, design skills, understanding of building regulations and the technical side of structures to ensure that our design solutions translate stunningly from concept to completion.
I am also passionate about finding the most environmentally friendly appliances and other fixtures and fittings, and have built an eco-portfolio that will interest many of our customers. Recently I have discovered a source of kitchen cabinets made from recycled materials! Also I am working with one of the Urbane directors to see if we can source any fair-trade materials.
