Case Study 1 – Elegant and Refined
Brief
Our client had been fairly recently widowed when she came in to see us
and was putting her own stamp on the house. Our brief was to work within
the period of her Victorian house to create a traditional kitchen that
would complement existing original oak pantry cupboards and windows, skirting
and alcatraves.
Design Solution
Our designers set about planning the kitchen and selected a very close
matching door style to that of the original pantry cupboards and changed
the handles on the old pantry to match those of the new kitchen to create
a seamless look. Our client was unsure about what colours to use and when
we showed her a green granite worksurface called Wildwest, she fell in
love with it. It's unusual, swirling, random vein reminded her of
a riverbed and she was definite about the colour scheme from that point
incorporating shades of the deep classic green throughout.
Our team of builders knocked out the chimneybreast to house the new gas hob and our joiner built handmade oak shelves for the mantel front and the opposite wall above the sink area so that our client could show off some of her favourite vases, plants and pictures. Our joiner routered off all the square edges on the shelves and handmade the brackets to accentuate the period feel.
