Case Study 1 – Timeless and Spacious
Brief
Our clients had moved into a house in westbury on trym whose period features
had been ripped out in the 1970’s. Our brief was to follow their lead
in the rest of the house and put the original features back in whilst
opening up the space between the separate kitchen and dinning room. Our
client loved cooking but was tired of looking at the wall, she wanted
a space that would inspire relaxed conversation.
Design Solution
Our building team set about removing the wall between the kitchen and the
dining room and making ready the surfaces whilst our designers worked
up a classic design that incorporated the reconstruction of the chimney
breast, re-instatement of skirting and alcatraves and emphasis on clean
and natural lines. We created lots of cabinet space with some excellent
gadgets and storage solutions to provide the perfect foil to our client’s
love of cooking. Mixed oak and granite worksurfaces were used to soften
the look and tongue and groove splashbacks were a durable and complementary
touch. Finally, an island peninsular incorporating seating and an excellent
space for food preparation was created and acted as a divide between
the formal dining space and the kitchen.
